Vetdox AQ Pro Tablet by Corise Healthcare is a prescription veterinary antiprotozoal medication used to treat complex or drug-resistant tick-borne and protozoal infections in dogs and cats.

Active Ingredients

Each film-coated Vetdox AQ Pro Tablet contains:

• Atovaquone (USP 250 mg): Disrupts the mitochondrial electron transport chain of the parasite, blocking its energy metabolism and ability to multiply.
• Proguanil Hydrochloride (100 mg): Acts synergistically with atovaquone to enhance anti-parasitic efficacy, particularly against resistant strains.

Primary Uses & Indications

• Canine Babesiosis: Primarily prescribed for tick fever or tick-borne infections caused by Babesia gibsoni (frequently combined with azithromycin).
• Cytauxzoonosis: Used in cats for managing Cytauxzoon felis infections.
• Other Protozoal Infections: Utilized for refractory or difficult-to-treat protozoal conditions and pneumocystis when standard therapies fail.

Dosage & Administration

• Standard Dosage: Typically 13.3 to 15 mg/kg of atovaquone and 5 mg/kg of proguanil every 8 hours, usually administered for an 8- to 10-day course.
